After the T20 series, Team India and Sri Lanka are facing each other in the three-match ODI series. Team India is all boosted up and Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer are back in the squad. After clinching the T20 series, Team India is eyeing the ODI trophy. But in the first innings, Rohit Sharma’s exciting catch while dismissing Charitha Asalanka grabbed the limelight.Â
Rohit Sharma’s Fine Catch:
After the T20 series, both teams are facing each other in the ODI series. Before stepping into the series, the Sri Lankan side faced a setback. Dilshan Madushanka and Matheesha Pathirana have been ruled out from the entire series. Along with that, India got a huge boost. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Kuldeep Yadav came back to the team.Â
Sri Lanka is batting first in the game and faced some early setbacks. In the 24th over, spinner Kuldeep Yadav came to bow. Kuldeep bowled a leg break at 83 kph, pitched just outside off stump. Asalanka struggled against the spinners.
He tried to steer the ball to third man, but it was a poor choice with a slip fielder in place. He attempted to play it off the pitch but ended up guiding it straight into Rohit’s hands at first slip. Rohit took a sharp catch, seizing the opportunity effectively.
Team India is Shining Again:
As the first assignment of newly appointed coach Gautam Gambhir, Team India whitewashed Sri Lanka in the T20 series. The prestigious R Premadasa Stadium of Colombo is hosting the first ODI match of this series. After winning the toss, Sri Lanka opted to bat first. In the third over, Mohammed Siraj dismissed Avishka Fernando. That was an early setback.Â
Shivam Dube got the second wicket After dismissing Kusal Mendis in just 14 runs. Sadeera Samarawickrama was dismissed on 8 runs in an excellent delivery by Axar Patel. But among all these setbacks, Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka shined. While opening the innings, he scored an amazing half-century and played a knock of 56 runs in 75 balls. In the 31st over, Sri Lanka is standing on 114-5.Â
