Rohit Sharma’s Teammate Shared Memories from U-19 Days

Former Indian spinner who used to share a dressing room with the current Indian team captain Rohit Sharma revealed Rohit’s advice during the time they were in their U-19 days. Ojha said thtat Rohit insisted that one had to be a ‘match-winner’ to succeed in the Indian team. Rohit was recently featured in the 3-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. He was seen dominating the Sri Lankan bowlers with his out of the box playstyle. Evan though India lost that series by 127 runs, Rohit emerged as the highest run-scorer with 157 runs.

Before he retired, Ojha had played 24 Test matches, 18 ODIs and 6 T20Is for India, where he took 113 wickets including 7 hauls with 5-wickets. He last appeared in 2013 during India’s two-Test series against West Indies in Mumbai.

Ojha revealed for once about his days with Rohit when they used to play in their U-19 days. He said how Rohit made him lock on to not just play the game, but be a winner.

“The best advice I got from Rohit when we were playing U19 cricket. He said, ‘Everyone wants to play for the country because we have come at the U19 level. But if you want to play for India for a long time, then you need to be a match winner.” said Ojha.
