Royce Keys’ WWE Future Uncertain After Royal Rumble Debut

Royce Keys’ WWE television absence might not be about shifting plans anymore — it might be about having no plans at all.

After earlier reports suggested WrestleMania 42 creative changes caused a ripple effect that stalled a planned program with Damian Priest, a new update paints an even bleaker picture. According to WrestleVotes, it’s not just a delay — WWE currently has no plans for him at all. During a March 2, 2026 Q&A session, WrestleVotes was asked directly whether there are any creative plans in place for Keys. The response was not optimistic.

“Creative plans for Royce Keys? Nothing — absolutely nothing. SmackDown was going to be the place for him, and I know he was backstage last Friday night. There’s no clue when he’s showing up on TV.”

Coming out of the 2026 Men’s Royal Rumble — where Keys entered at No. 14 and eliminated Damian Priest before being tossed by Bronson Reed — WWE reportedly had ideas in motion. A Priest vs. Keys program was discussed internally, but broader WrestleMania card adjustments appeared to derail those plans. Now, his future in the company is uncertain.

With WrestleMania season in full swing and card reshuffling affecting multiple spots, Keys may have simply been squeezed out of the equation. For now, Royce Keys is off television — and WWE simply has no direction lined up.

Is this just temporary creative reshuffling, or is WWE dropping the ball on a Royal Rumble standout? Let us know what you think below.
