RPM TRIO REGROUP FOR LAST SHOW – Motorsport.ie

Pammie’, ‘Plum’, and ‘Garfield’, sound like characters in a children’s TV show, and characters they certainly are, but their show was RPM the popular motorsports programme that ran on UTV and many other channels for twenty-three years.

‘Pammie’ (Pamela Ballantine), ‘Plum’ (Alan Tyndall), and ‘Garfield’ (Gary Gillespie) were the core presenters on RPM, a programme that was compulsory viewing for rallying and motor racing enthusiasts between 1991 and 2014 and programmes that are still being enjoyed by many on YouTube.

Pamela has her own show on Ulster Television on Friday evenings, (UTV Live), has always been a rally nut, rating rallying and horse racing as her two top sports.

Plum, a former saloon car racer, commentator, event organiser and joint-creator of the Déjà vu Motorsport concept, was the person who put the RPM Motorsport  programmes on the screens.

While Gary, was a former news presenter with Downtown Radio and UTV before he became involved in rallying in the 1980’s on the RTE/UTV coverage of the Circuit of Ireland Rally and stayed on to share the voice-overs on RPM with Plum.

Alan Graham. Co-Director of Déjà vu Motorsport Ltd:

“It’s great to be able to bring these three broadcasting heads together again for our final Gala Dinner. They have worked together and played together for more than three decades and they will be giving their services to Déjà Vu Down ’26 in aid of our chosen charities – TinyLife and Marie Curie.”
