Rajasthan Royals made a strong statement in IPL 2026, beating Chennai Super Kings by 8 wickets in Guwahati on March 30. It was a one-sided match where RR dominated with both ball and bat.
Early Collapse Puts CSK on the Back Foot
RR captain Riyan Parag won the toss and chose to bowl on a pitch that had seen rain earlier. His bowlers made full use of the conditions right away.
CSK had a terrible start, slipping to 41 for 4 in the powerplay. Ruturaj Gaikwad and debutant Sanju Samson were both dismissed cheaply, adding pressure early.

Ayush Mhatre fell for a golden duck, while Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger kept things tight and attacking. CSK never really recovered after that early damage.
Jadeja and Overton Try to Rescue CSK
Ravindra Jadeja, playing against his former team, made an instant impact with the ball. He picked up two wickets in his very first over, removing Sarfaraz Khan and Shivam Dube.

Despite the collapse, Jamie Overton stood tall for CSK. He scored a fighting 43 off 36 balls and built a small partnership with Anshul Kamboj.
Their 33-run stand for the last wicket helped CSK reach 127, giving them at least something to defend. But it always looked below par.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Lights Up the Chase
Chasing 128, Rajasthan Royals came out with full intent. The highlight of the match was 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who stunned everyone.

He smashed a 15-ball half-century, one of the fastest in IPL history. His 52 off just 17 balls completely broke CSKโs hopes early in the chase.
Even after his dismissal, the result was almost certain. The young batter showed fearless hitting and maturity beyond his age.
Jaiswal Anchors, Parag Finishes Calmly
After the quick start, Yashasvi Jaiswal played a steady role. He remained unbeaten on 38 off 36 balls, making sure there were no late hiccups.
Captain Riyan Parag stayed till the end and finished the game with a single in the 13th over. RR chased down the target easily with plenty of overs to spare.
Burger Leads RR Bowling Effort
Nandre Burger was the pick of the bowlers for Rajasthan. His early spell of 2 for 26 set the tone and earned him the Player of the Match award.
With this win, Rajasthan Royals look confident early in the season, while CSK will need to fix their batting issues quickly.
