Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- Dave Meltzer said that “everyone” is telling him that whoever is on the phone with Randy Orton is not The Rock, “but of course, if it is, The Rock’s not gonna let anyone know.”
- Fightful Select notes that John Cena is hosting WrestleMania 42 is drive ticket demand, and the plan is to heavily promote him on WWE television this week.
- PW Insider originally said Bron Breakker was spotted at Raw this week but later clarified it was a misunderstanding and he wasn’t actually there. It’s still unclear when he will return from hernia surgery.
- Kyle Fletcher suffered an ankle injury in his match on Collision last Saturday, per Wrestling Observer Radio. Dave Meltzer said Fletcher and long-time tag partner Mark Davis did a tandem overhead suplex spot while their positioning was off, causing Davis to land on Fletcher’s leg. After limping to the back without help, Fletcher was seen in a walking boot later in the evening and will likely get further tests.
- As TNT champ, Fletcher is obviously a key player for AEW. Meltzer said “they’ll have to probably redo a lot of plans” if Fletcher needs to miss time with the injury as he “was pretty heavy in a lot of short and long-term plans there with the championship and all that”.
