The ROH Final Battle card just got a serious shake-up—and injuries are to blame.
In a new update from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was confirmed that Rush is officially out of the ROH Final Battle main event due to a knee injury, and it may be serious enough to require surgery. The fallout? A brand-new match has been announced, and the ROH Tag Team Titles are now vacated.
Originally, the highly anticipated headliner for Final Battle—set for December 5 in Columbus, OH—was supposed to be Bandido vs. Rush for the ROH World Championship. But with Rush sidelined, the main event has been completely restructured into a high-stakes multi-man brawl.
“Announced for 12/5 for the ROH Final Battle show in Columbus OH is Bandido defends the ROH title against Sammy Guevara, Hechicero, Komander, Mortos and Blake Christian in a Survival of the Fittest match as the main event.”
The new format, a “Survival of the Fittest” match, adds chaos, unpredictability, and a stacked lineup featuring some of the hottest talent from across ROH, AEW, and lucha libre scenes. But it’s not just the world title picture that’s been hit.
With Rush and Sammy Guevara both previously holding the ROH Tag Team Championships, Rush’s injury now forces the duo to vacate the belts.
“Rush suffered a knee injury and is out of action. That also means due to injury, Rush & Guevara are vacating the ROH tag team titles.”
The injury report doesn’t end there—Rush’s brother, Dralistico, is also on the mend and may require ear surgery, leaving yet another member of La Facción Ingobernable on the injured list.
“Rush may need knee surgery and brother Dralistico may need ear surgery.”
As of now, ROH has not announced how they’ll crown new tag champs, but with Final Battle right around the corner, expect another announcement soon.
