SA 20 Commissioner Graeme Smith is very excited about the amazing players who will be part of Season 3 of South Africa’s top T20 league, starting on January 9, 2025. After the pre-signing and retention period ends, there will be 13 choices for the teams to make at the auction in Cape Town on October 1, 2024. Besides this, each team will also need to pick their Season 3 Rookie, and three teams still have a wildcard to reveal before December 30. With the teams confirming their kept and pre-signed players, Smith expressed his belief in the strong teams put together for the upcoming season and before the player auction in Cape Town on October 1.
“During the first two seasons, SA20 has established itself as a top-tier cricket league worldwide, with full stadiums watching high-quality matches. Famous players from other countries, such as Dinesh Karthik, Ben Stokes, Kane Williamson, Joe Root, Trent Boult, Johnny Bairstow, Devon Conway, Zak Crawley, Rashid Khan, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz, have joined SA20 teams. This shows the great work the league and teams have done to provide an excellent experience. We are grateful to everyone who has worked hard on this,” Smith mentioned in a statement.
“Having these international stars play alongside local talents like Aiden, KG, and Heinrich makes for an exciting season. We are also very proud of all the local players who have stayed with their teams, including most of the new players who are now fully contracted for Season 3.”
