Former South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis is currently being considered to be the head coach for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise is actively pursuing Kallis to be the role of mentor before the mega auctions of IPL 2025.
Kallis has a good association with the KKR, as he has played an important role in their campaign when they won the title. He has been involved in the coaching setup of the franchise before as well, as he served as the head coach in 2015 and batting consultant in the same year. If he gets appointed, it might turn out to be a significant boost to the coaching staff for the team.
Along with Jacques Kallis, KKR are reported to consider Ricky Ponting for the role. He was recently dismissed as the coach of Delhi Capitals after their disappointing performance in the recent few seasons. Ponting expressed his interest in coaching another team in IPL.
