Saina Nehwal Thinks Vinesh Should be Accountable for Disqualification

India faced a big heartbreak after star wrestler Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the Olympics event.  After her disqualification, the entire sports community of India and the world showed sympathy. But Imdia’s badminton star Saina Nehwal shared a different view on that. She felt the star wrestler should take the blame for her ouster. rewrite this in another way.

Vinesh Phogat’s Disqualification:

Vinesh Phogat made history as the first Indian woman to reach an Olympic final but faced a setback just before the gold medal match. Despite delivering exceptional performances throughout the tournament, she was disqualified after the mandatory weigh-in on Tuesday showed she was 100 grams over the weight limit.

Vinesh’s journey to the final in the women’s 50kg category had been impressive, but a slight weight gain after her intense matches led to her disqualification. Initially, within the weight limit, her weight slightly increased due to the demanding competition, resulting in her being ruled out of the final.

This disqualification was a significant blow to the Indian team, as Vinesh’s achievement of reaching the Olympic final had already been a historic milestone. Her narrow failure to meet the weight requirement was a disappointing end to an otherwise remarkable performance at the games.

Saina Nehwal’s Take on That:

There has been much sympathy for Vinesh Phogat since her disqualification from the women’s 50kg event at the Paris Olympics for being slightly overweight. However, Saina Nehwal believes that Vinesh should take responsibility for her disqualification.

She said, “She is an experienced athlete. Somewhere there has been a mistake on Vinesh’s part too. She should take the blame too. Before such a big match, such a mistake is not right.”

Saina Nehwal added that Vinesh Phogat, having competed in the Olympics before, should have been more careful. She emphasized that Vinesh should have known better and taken greater responsibility for avoiding the disqualification.

Nehwal said, “It is not like she is playing her first Olympics. It’s her third Olympics. As an athlete, she must know the rules. If there has been a mistake, I don’t know how it happened. At such a big stage, I have not heard any such thing about any other wrestler, that they have been disqualified due to being overweight.”
