Sanju’s views on becoming the 1st Indian to scores 2 consecutive T20I centuries

Sanju Samson is a player who does not get much opportunities to appear for Indian team, but now that he has got the chance he is making sure he makes it count. He was successful when playing against South Africa in Durban as he destroyed South African bowlers with his second consecutive T20I century. Sanju was praised by a lot of current and former cricketers on social media for his massive achievement.

Sanju has, however, not been given lot of opportunities and has been out of the side for India. It is only for the current establishment, that he has got more chances. After his 107-run knock in the 1st T20I, he stated that he is in hopes to stay close to ground and enjoy this moment for which he has waited for a long time.

If I think a lot I will get emotional. I waited for this moment for 10 years, I’m very happy, grateful and blessed. But I would like to keep my feet on the ground, be in the moment and enjoy,” Samson said after the end of the first innings.

Sanju was also clear about his intent as he explained how one should go for a hit if there is a ball that could go along. This showed in his game as even though he was closing in on his milestone, he was attacking the bowlers with all he could.

If the ball is there to be hit, go for it. Focus on one ball at a time and that helps. The wicket does play a big role here, extra bounce and coming from India we do take time to understand the wicket. There’s a huge wind blowing from one end and their bowlers bowled very well, our bowlers too would like to copy from them,” he added.
