“Scripted” – Terence Crawford controversial take on Jake Paul fight

Three-weight undisputed world champion Terence Crawford has accused Jake Paul of scripting his fight with Mike Tyson.

Crawford weighed in on the fight between Paul and Tyson.

‘The Problem Child’ fought Tyson in 2024 at AT&T Stadium in Texas.

The event was aired live on Netflix in what was a historic night.

‘Bud’ recently featured on the Joe Rogan Experience and discussed the fight, claiming the former heavyweight world champion was being forced to hold back.

“I think [Paul vs Tyson] was scripted. I ain’t never seen Tyson biting his gloves and like, it was taking all that he could not to hit him.

“It’s heartbreaking to see an icon go like that.”

Tyson once ruled the heavyweight division. He became the youngest-ever heavyweight champion at 20 when he stopped Trevor Berbick in the second round.

‘Iron Mike’ went down as one of the most recognisable yet dangerous fighters in the history of the sport.

His return at 59 shocked many, especially after the first fight with Paul was pushed back due to “life-threatening” health complications Tyson endured months before the fight was held.

Crawford continued and discussed the financial aspect of the contest.

“He shouldn’t have been in there at all. There’s other ways [to make money].”

It is rumoured Tyson pocketed a healthy purse of $20,000,000, with Paul getting double at $40,000,000, according to The Sporting News.

Crawford recently retired himself with an astonishing record of 42 fights and 42 wins, with 31 of those wins coming by way of stoppage.

‘Bud’ ended his career with a possible career best against Canelo Alvarez, an event which was also aired live on Netflix.

He was dominant throughout the 12-round contest, despite moving up two weight divisions to become a five-weight world champion and three-weight undisputed world champion.

Crawford spoke on potentially fighting Paul himself when he featured on the Club Shay Shay podcast back in April last year. He initially shut down a fight with Paul.

“Nah, (I wouldn’t fight Jake Paul). Yeah, Jake is big but he’s doing his thing, let Jake do what Jake is gonna do.”

Crawford jokingly changed his mind after hearing the potential purse at stake for a fight with Paul.

“I’m fighting Jake Paul. I’ll fight Jake Paul, come on Jake. Hey, Logan (Paul) I gotta fight your brother, man.”
