Chile’s professional rugby franchise, Selknam has named a longlist for Super Rugby Americas (SRA) 2026. A 57-man roster began preparations for the upcoming season on Wednesday, January 07 at the CARR, Chile’s High Performance Rugby Center.
Head Coach Jake Mangin has command of a roster containing 27 forwards and 30 backs. It sees a combination of vastly experienced players and new names from the junior system. Instances of youth include Max Kennedy (19), Cristóbal Soto Haeger (18) and Max Schlesinger Cifuentes (18). Schlesinger Cifuentes is a tower at 1.98m tall despite his age.

Among the talking points of the poster is the inclusion of fly half Rodrigo Fernández. Chile’s leading play-maker is back from Italy to play SRA for the first time since Rugby World Cup 2023. He and scrum-half Lucas Berti are both back from European clubs for the new season.
Recruitment also sees Argentine players arriving. They are Nicolás Triviño, Alan Pedrol, Santiago Montagner and Lucas Tulón. Montagner is an established name with a wealth of prior experience both in South America and Europe. Lucas Tulón is Chilean qualified and played in the Seven de las Bodegas last year.
Los Cóndores 7’s have also been named on the roster. Players included are Martín Escobar, Luca Strabucchi, Julián Troncoso in addition to front-rower Fabián Lagos from the Old Johns club.
Recruitment from Chile’s u20’s sees opportunities for Santiago Wood, José Tomás Bonilla, Lucas Pizarro and Lucas Winkler.

The roster also comes with changes to that from SRA 2025. Baltazar Cánepa (Old Mackayans), Nahuel Debiassi (PWCC),Simón Donoso (UC), Andrés Kuzmanic (CD Alumni), Lucca Marchini (Old Johns) y Martín Pizarro (CD Alumni) and Iñaki Gurruchaga (Old Johns) are missing. Gurruchaga is now playing for Vannes RC in the Pro D2.
Changes in the backs see Ignacio Arias (DOBS), Martín Dumay (COBS), Raimundo Maurel (Old Mackayans) and Diego Warnken (CD Alumni) not included for SRA 2026.
