Shabaz Masoud vs Peter McGrail – Big Fight Preview & Predictions

The traditional Matchroom late-year offering from Monte Carlo takes place this Saturday night at Salle des Etoiles, and in the headliner in the principality, Shabaz Masoud and Peter McGrail go for the vacant European super bantamweight title.

DAZN televise Masoud vs McGrail live.

Masoud (14-0, KO4) has had a stop-start past few years, and after stopping Jack Bateson in the final round of twelve in 2022, he would box just three times since that victory.

The man from Stoke fought twice in 2024, starting with a shutout success over eight against Marvin Solano in July, and he then took the IBO title, and the unbeaten record of Liam Davies in an impressive split decision win last November.

We will find out if inactivity has been an issue for Masoud, with Liverpool’s McGrail (12-1, KO6) far more active than his opponent.

McGrail has won four on the spin since being stunned by Ja’Rico O’Quinn in a fifth-round knockout loss in 2023, and 2024 saw him bank points wins over ten against Marc Leach and Rhys Edwards, in between knocking Brad Foster out in two rounds in September last year.

McGrail was last seen in June, and he did enough to earn a majority decision win against the teak-tough Ionut Baluta in Birmingham.

Prediction: This is a finely-balanced match, and a tough one to call. I lean towards McGrail taking a close points win.

Pat McCormack vs Conah Walker

Former Olympian Pat McCormack (8-0, KO6) attempts to take the vacant IBF Intercontinental welterweight title, as he goes up to twelve-round level for the first time, against Conah Walker (16-3-1, KO7).

McCormack has been at ten-round level for some time, and has been out twice in 2025.

He retired Robbie Davies Jr after six in February, and in his last contest, he won a WBA world title eliminator, forcing Miguel Parra to retire after nine in Houghton-le-Spring.

British champion Walker has won three since losing on the cards to Lewis Crocker last June, and won the British and Commonwealth crowns in January, stopping Harry Scarff in the penultimate round of a thriller.

Walker knocked out Liam Taylor in a first defence in June in seven rounds.

Prediction: McCormack is a real talent, and he can make a statement with a stoppage win in this one.

Remaining Undercard

IBF lightweight champion Beatriz Ferreira (8-0, KO2) defends her gold for a fourth time here, and the Brazilian can clearly outscore Elif Nur Turhan (11-0, KO7) over ten rounds.

Johnny Fisher (13-1, KO11) makes his comeback from his first pro defeat to Dave Allen in May, and he should have enough to halt the unbeaten Ivan Balaz (7-0, KO5) in their scheduled ten-rounder at heavyweight.

At super lightweight, Hugo Micallef (11-0, KO3) can take a points win over ten against IBF European champion Sean McComb (20-2, KO5), also over a scheduled ten rounds.
