Indian women’s cricketer Shafali Verma has become just the second Indian cricketer in women’s cricket history to score a double century in Test cricket.

Former Indian women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj was the first to achieve this feat, scoring a double century in Test cricket back in 2002. Since then, no one else had managed to reach this milestone.

Shafali Verma scored 200 runs from just 194 balls against South Africa in the ongoing one-off Test match being played at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. With this achievement, Shafali also became the fastest woman cricketer to score a double century.

Indian Women Cricketers to Score Double Century in Test Cricket:

Sr. No. Player Opponent Venue Year
1 Mithali Raj England County Ground, Taunton 2002
2 Shafali Verma South Africa MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai 2024

In the same match, the 20-year-old had earlier scored her maiden Test century. She maintained her momentum and converted that century into a double century.

Shafali Verma is known for her aggressive batting style in women’s cricket. She is famous for hitting big shots and dominating bowlers, and she demonstrated this skill once again against the strong South African bowling attack.
