It has been reported according to sources that Bangladesh’s veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been banned from all competitions organized by the England and Wales Cricket Board after his action was proven illegal by independent analysis.
After independent testing, the university in Loughborough now reported Shakib’s action post this one-off game for Surrey earlier this year. The umpires later reported Shakib’s bowling action and referred him for a test.
Independent parties should do action assessments again to prove his condition and that he has not elbowed beyond the regulation of the 15-degree limit of the elbow to end the suspension.
The suspension is reportedly dated as of 10 November when the ECB received the results from the university. It will be known soon whether Shakib will go for those tests to be marked fit to play in England.
He later found himself banned just after being the Member of Parliament with the Awami League Party, a status dented recently. Therefore, he could not play some cricket within Bangladesh, such as his farewell Test against South Africa.
He had come through the blocks with total fierceness, taking 9 wickets in Taunton, bowling at Somerset. This was his county after a short visit last season in 2010-11 when he played for Worcestershire.
Shakib has loomed of 4609 runs and 246 in the 71 matches he has played in Tests. For the ODIs, his analysis shows the run tally as 7570 and 317 scalps besides the-as recorded in T20Is-2551 and 149 wickets in 129 appearances, which makes him rank among the best all-rounders the world has witnessed across all formats of the game.
His last international game was against India in second Test in Kanpur, where he picked up four wickets from both innings. He has also played for the Bangla Tigers in the Abu Dhabi T10 league, which finished ninth in the table.
He has also participated in various franchise T20 leagues around the world and is still continuing to do so now. But whether he will ever lift the ban to play cricket in England remains to be seen.
