Shakur Stevenson has revealed the key to making a fight between himself and Ryan Garcia in the future.
Following Stevenson’s win on Saturday, many potential opponents have been discussed, including Garcia.
On Saturday, the 28-year-old outclassed a two-weight world champion in Teofimo Lopez.
He arguably won all 12 rounds in what was expected to be the biggest step-up in Stevenson’s career to date.
Stevenson has already flirted with a few potential matchups and discussed a potential clash with ‘King Ry’ while talking on The Cigar Talk podcast.

“I would love it.
“If you want me to come to 147 lbs I am coming in with a rehydration clause… any of y’all if you want to fight me at 147… 10lbs.

“I would love it.”
Another potential option was also raised on fight night.
Benn entered the ring to call out American, the stumbling block to making that fight is the weight.

The 28-year-old said a fight with Benn can be made if a similar rehydration clause which was put in place during his fight with Chris Eubank Jr is in play if they meet.
“I want that same rehydration clause that you put on Eubank Jr, and I want to fight.
“Let’s make it happen.”
Stevenson once again revealed the need for a rehydration clause in a potential fight with Garcia.

“I will tell you again if you want me to come to 147 lbs, I am coming in with a rehydration clause.
“Why would I go up to these guys’ weight classes if I am not planning on going there? So any of y’all, if you want to fight me at 147… 10lbs.
“On fight night when we get in the ring they’re going to be 157, 158lbs, no bigger than 160lbs that night, then I am cool with that.”
Garcia is set to challenge for the WBC world title on February 22nd in Las Vegas.
He takes on Mario Barrios at 147lbs, a weight class up from Stevenson’s last fight.

Stevenson only moved up to super lightweight for the first time in his last outing.
The 28-year-old is now a four-weight world champion and may be set to move up another weight class.

Despite having success at super lightweight, Stevenson did flirt with a possible return back to lightweight while talking on the broadcast of Raymond Muratalla’s recent world title defence.
Stevenson was recently stripped of the WBC world title after his super lightweight victory, they made a statement:
“In light of Champion Stevenson now being the reigning WBO Super Lightweight World Champion and consistent with the WBC Rules & Regulations, the WBC has declared vacant its Lightweight world title.”
