“Shami will be going…”Jay Shah provides a massive update regarding Shami’s participation in the Border Gavaskar trophy.

People are really excited about India’s next trip to Australia because of what happened in their last two Test series there. India won both of those series 2-1 and now they want to win a third time in a row.

Australia knows this and is getting ready to take back the Border Gavaskar Trophy, which India has had for a while now.

The two teams last competed in the final of the ICC World Test Championship, where Australia won.

India knows that beating Australia for the third time in a row on their home ground is not an easy task, but they believe having a healthy and performing fast bowling team is essential to achieve this goal.

The Indian team management has been preparing for the tour, giving their top fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, a break to keep him ready for the Test matches. However, India will also require the experienced Mohammed Shami, who hasn’t played any cricket since the 2023 ODI World Cup final.

There is no set date for his possible comeback.

Previously, BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar mentioned that the 33-year-old might return for the Test series against Bangladesh, but recent reports suggest he will start playing competitively again in the Ranji Trophy.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah has almost confirmed that the fast bowler will join the team for the tour in Australia.

“Our team is already well prepared. We have given Jasprit Bumrah a break for some time now. We expect Mohammad Shami to be healthy too. This Indian team has a lot of experience. Key players like Rohit and Kohli are in good shape,” he told Times of India about the team’s preparation for the Australia tour.

“Shami will be going to Australia because he has a lot of experience, and we need him there,” he mentioned.

In the meantime, the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), Snehasish Ganguly, says that if Shami wants to join the team for the Australia series, he must show he is fit by playing in the Ranji Trophy.

“He wants to go on that tour. But he needs to play in the Ranji Trophy to show that he is ready,” Ganguly explained.
