A member of the McMahon family may soon accomplish something no one connected to WWE has ever done before — win an Academy Award.
Marissa McMahon, who previously appeared on WWE programming under the name Marissa Mazzola, is attached to a film that has earned major recognition at the Academy Awards. Her film Train Dreams has received multiple nominations, including the prestigious Best Picture category.
If the film ultimately wins Best Picture, McMahon would be among the producers awarded an Oscar, which would mark a historic first for anyone from the McMahon family.
McMahon produced the project through her production company Kamala Films. The film has already built strong momentum during awards season and is also nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Cinematography.
Train Dreams is currently available to stream on Netflix and tells the story of Robert Grainier, a laborer living in the Idaho Panhandle across much of the 20th century. The story follows Grainier’s life over decades as he builds a family before tragedy strikes when his wife and daughter are killed in a devastating wildfire. The loss pushes him into isolation as he struggles to survive and adapt while the wilderness around him rapidly changes with modernization.
While the McMahon family is best known for building the WWE empire and shaping the professional wrestling industry, an Oscar win would mark an entirely different milestone tied to the family name.
With Train Dreams now firmly in the awards conversation, Marissa McMahon could soon make history in Hollywood.
