Sheamus has already been on the sidelines for months, and it looks like fans shouldn’t expect his return anytime soon.
The former WWE Champion has been out of action since late 2025 after suffering a shoulder injury that forced him out of competition. At the time, the injury was serious enough to pull him from The Last Time is Now Tournament, cutting short what had been shaping up as a strong run. Since then, questions have continued to swirl about when — or if — he might be ready to step back into the ring.
WWE first confirmed the injury situation back in November 2025, revealing that Sheamus was not medically cleared to continue in the tournament. The announcement came just hours before SmackDown, leaving fans waiting for more answers about how long he might be gone.
“BREAKING NEWS: Due to a shoulder injury, Sheamus is not medically cleared to continue competition in The Last Time is Now Tournament. Additional information will be provided tonight on SmackDown.”
Before the injury, Sheamus had built momentum in the tournament. He defeated Shinsuke Nakamura on the November 10, 2025 episode of RAW, and his final match before being sidelined came on November 17, when he teamed with John Cena and Rey Mysterio in a six-man tag match. Now, months later, there’s a fresh update — and it suggests the wait isn’t over yet.
Sean Ross Sapp recently addressed Sheamus’ recovery timeline while answering fan questions during the Fightful Select Q&A about injured WWE talent. During that discussion, he made it clear that Sheamus is still expected to remain out for several more months.
“We got people asking about Sheamus’s timetable and Bianca Belair as well. Listen, Bianca Belair, they never expected her to miss a full year. She didn’t either. She was not at risk of amputation like Jonathan Coachman said. Seamus, I think is still going to be out for a few months. He’s older and it’s a shoulder injury from what I understand. It’s unfortunate, but yeah.”
That latest timeline makes it clear that Sheamus’ return isn’t right around the corner. Shoulder injuries can be tough to recover from, especially for veteran performers who have spent years absorbing punishment inside the ring.
With months already passed and more time still ahead, Sheamus’ absence continues to be felt across WWE programming, and his eventual return will likely carry plenty of attention when it finally happens.
Do you think Sheamus should return slowly after this kind of injury, or jump straight into a major storyline once he’s cleared? Let us know what you think.
