Shreyas Iyer Denies Injury Rumors on Social Media

Shreyas Iyer denied reports claiming his unavailability for the next Ranji Trophy match due to a shoulder injury. He criticised the media for publishing false news without verification.

Shreyas Iyer Refutes Injury Reports

Shreyas Iyer, Mumbai’s right-handed batter, lashed out on social media after reports suggested that he was ruled out of the upcoming Ranji Trophy match against Tripura due to a shoulder injury.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Iyer urged journalists to do proper research before publishing news, labelling the reports as false.

“Guys, seriously, let’s do some homework before publishing news,” Iyer said while quoting a social media user who posted, “Shreyas Iyer set to miss Mumbai’s next Ranji Trophy game – Cricbuzz.” The user later deleted the post after Shreyas called him out.

Shreyas Iyer’s Tweet

Last week, Shreyas Iyer made a strong comeback, scoring 142 runs from 190 balls in Mumbai’s second Ranji Trophy match against Maharashtra. His brilliant innings helped Mumbai bounce back after a surprising loss to Baroda in their opening game.

“Regardless of what others say, I have to listen to my body. I know how much I’ve pushed myself over the years, and I’ll make the right decisions based on that. I hope my team will support me,” Shreyas said after his match-winning knock.

Chris Gayle Apologises to Shreyas Iyer Over Injury Rumor

West Indies cricket legend Chris Gayle has apologized to Shreyas Iyer after inaccurate reports about Iyer’s injury circulated in the media. Responding to Shreyas’ frustration over the false news, Gayle clarified that he had no intentions to spread misleading information.

“Hey Shreyas, sorry if the news isn’t accurate. I had no intention of doing so,” Gayle said. He further added that the report was initially published by Cricbuzz and apologized once again for the confusion.

This exchange follows Shreyas Iyer’s strong response on social media, where he urged the media to verify facts before publishing.

Iyer’s response highlights the increasing need for media outlets to verify information from reliable sources before publishing.

The initial report, which claimed Iyer was ruled out due to injury, cited BCCI sources, but Iyer’s prompt response emphasises the importance of factual reporting.

Misinformation not only affects the player’s reputation but also misleads fans and the public.
