Last week, Shreyas Iyer returned to form with a brilliant knock of 142 off 190 balls against Maharashtra in Mumbai’s second-round Ranji Trophy match. After reaching his century, he told reporters that he needed to give his body some rest, regardless of what others might say.

“No matter whatever people think outside, I have to listen to my body because I know the amount of threshold I’ve carried over the last few years and based on that I’ll be taking the right decision and I hope that my team will also back (me),” he had said to reporters after scoring a century against Maharashtra.

Scored a first class century after 3 years

Shreyas Iyer had been waiting a long time for this century. His last first-class hundred for India was in November 2021 against New Zealand in Kanpur. The 29-year-old, who hasn’t played a Test since the series against England earlier this year, is now looking to make a comeback to the Test team.

Meanwhile, as the IPL auction draws closer, there have been reports that KKR may not retain their skipper, Shreyas Iyer, as the franchise is believed to be on the lookout for a new captain. In any case, KKR is likely to retain the mainstay players Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, and Sunil Narine.
