Day 1 of the first Test of the three-match Test series between India and New Zealand in Bengaluru got washed off without seeing a single ball being bowled due to consistent rain. The toss is also yet to take place, which has resulted in Shubman Gill getting a bit more time to recover before the playing XI gets announced for the first Test.
It started pouring in Bengaluru in the morning and just kept getting worse as the day progressed. The rain stopped a few times, but simply returned and later caused a washout. The weather forecast is not looking any better for the rest of the four days as well. India’s World test Championship (WTC) final plan may face a shock if the first Test ends in a draw.
