Sialkot Stallionz rebranded as Multan Sultans ahead of PSL 2026

Even before playing their first-ever match in the Pakistan Super League, the Sialkot Stallionz have been rebranded as the Multan Sultans ahead of the 2026 season. Gohar Shah, a former domestic cricketer in Pakistan circles, has taken up the role as the franchise’s new chief executive officer. Gohar was present at the press conference alongside PSL CEO Salman Naseer as the rebranding was formally announced.

There were already rumours of the Multan-based franchise returning to the PSL set-up when Naseer had hinted at good news for the faithful of the 2021 PSL champions. The league chief executive had demanded fans’ time before spilling the beans on the dramatic comeback of the franchise into the league ahead of the upcoming season.

“The first thing Gohar did upon assuming the role of CEO was submit an application to the PCB. He agreed to pay the one-time franchise fee to change the name, and now this team will be known as the Multan Sultans,” Naseer told the reporters during the press conference on Tuesday, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

Meanwhile, Gohar confirmed that he took a 98 per cent stake in the franchise through CD Ventures, which is also the new ownership group of the team. Gohar also said that he wanted his PSL team to represent South Punjab and having a franchise from Multan does just that.

“I want my region to be represented, which is Multan, and South Punjab. It was very important for me that Multan stayed in the PSL, and will continue to stay in the future,” Gohar reflected.
