Skipper Ishan Kishan Surprises with Bowling Stint in Buchi-Babu Invitational

In the Jharkhand team’s Buchi-Babu Invitational Tournament match versus Hyderabad, Ishan Kishan, who is commonly recognized for his abilities as a wicketkeeper and batsman, adopted a new role by rolling his arm to bowl.

In order to convince the selectors that he is still more than capable of competing on the international front, Kishan had earlier struck an explosive century against Madhya Pradesh. He’s entered now, though, to demonstrate a talent that wasn’t before on display. For a part-time bowler, he did not perform poorly while bowling two overs of off-spin, giving up just five runs.

After the 2023 ODI World Cup, the wicketkeeper-batter has not been a member of the Indian team since the T20I series played at home against Australia in November. He was also left off of the BCCI’s centrally contracted list of players, with rumors circulating that the main reason for the call was his unwillingness to participate in domestic cricket.

The 26-year-old now hopes that his success on the domestic circuit would lead to the selection committee choosing to play him in India’s next games. For India’s next games, Gautam Gambhir, the team’s new head coach, is likely to have the best players available.

After a two-match Test series, the Indian squad will play a three-match Twenty20 International series at home against Bangladesh. There will also be a three-match Test series played at home against New Zealand after this. Ishan will, however, be hoping to earn a position in the match between two of cricket’s most formidable foes at the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which will serve as the main event for Indian cricket in 2024.

Kishan can make the most of his domestic cricket possibilities by taking the captain’s seat and leading from the front to make sure he gets called up to play again for his country.

The Indian squad was on its way to Sri Lanka for a white-ball tour, and the Gautam Gambhir era had begun. Under Suryakumar Yadav’s guidance, the T20I team was able to win the series 3-0, while Rohit Sharma’s return as the ODI skipper was tainted by disappointment as the Men in Blue lost to Sri Lanka 2-0.
