Sri Lanka made a stunning comeback in the series after defeating West Indies by 73 runs to level the three-match T20I series to 1-1. Let’s look at SL vs WI Highlights 2nd T20I.

Defending 163 in a make-or-break match, Sri Lanka bowlers restricted West Indies to 89 and handed their side a victory, making sure that the third game would decide the winner of the series.  

Dunith Wellalage, who made his T20I debut for Sri Lanka in this match, starred with his impressive 4-0-9-3 spell.  

Earlier, Pathum Nissanka scored the most runs for Sri Lanka. His 54 and partnership up the order helped the hosts to put a decent total on board.

Sri Lanka made a solid start after opting to bat, as they added 77 for the first wicket. Their openers set the platform for a big total before one of them, Kusal Mendis, left the middle.  

The aggressor among the two, Pathum Nissanka, played a knock of 54. Kusal Perera, who came in at three scored 16-ball 24.  

Sri Lanka was in good position to record a big total at 127 for 3 in 15.5 overs, but their following batters managed to add 35 off final 25 balls, leading the hosts to post 162 after 20 overs.   

Romario Shepherd bagged the most wickets for West Indies with a 3-0-23-2. While Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Shamar Springer took a wicket each.

West Indies to chase 163 in 20 overs  

Chasing a target of 163, West Indies suffered a shaky start after losing their first three wickets for 17 inside the powerplay. While half of their side on 38 in 9.2, and the next two in next five balls.  

West Indies skipper, Rovman Powell and Alzarri Joseph tried to break the shackles, but they too failed to convert their knock into a match winning one as West Indies lost the match by 73 runs on Tuesday at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla.  

Apart from Wellalage’s three-wicket haul, Mahessh Theekshana, Charith Aslanka, and Wanindu Hasaranga all bagged 2-2 wickets each for Sri Lanka.  

The third match will be a decider as the winner of that match secures the series. The final match of the series will be played at the same venue on October 17.
