Smriti Mandhana and Renuka Singh gains big in latest ICC rankings

Indian cricket players Smriti Mandhana and Renuka Singh have improved their positions in the latest ICC T20I rankings due to their strong performance in the recently finished Women’s Asia Cup. Both were already in the top 10 rankings for batters and bowlers, but now they have moved up to fourth and fifth places, respectively.

Smriti showed great skill, including scoring a half-century in the final match against Sri Lanka. She scored a total of 173 runs in five innings, averaging 57.67 runs per innings with a strike rate of 137.3, making her the third-highest run scorer of the Asia Cup. Shafali Verma was India’s highest run scorer with 200 runs, and she kept her 11th place in the rankings.

The top scorer in the Asia Cup 2024, Sri Lanka’s captain Chamari Athapaththu, has moved up three spots to sixth place in the rankings with 705 points. She is only 38 points away from fourth place, held by Mandhana with 743 points. Beth Mooney, Tahlia McGrath, and Hayley Matthews are the top three players.

In bowling, India’s Renuka Singh has risen four places to fifth position after taking seven wickets in five matches during the Asia Cup. Deepti Sharma led in wickets with 10 and kept her third place in the rankings. Sophie Ecclestone and Sarah Glenn from England are the top two bowlers with 772 and 760 points, while Deepti follows closely with 755 points.

Regarding all-rounders, the rankings remain unchanged with Hayley Matthews leading and Deepti staying in third place.
