In the third T20I vs West Indies, which was held at the Dr. D. Y. Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Thursday, December 19, Smriti Mandhana did fire for India. The 28 years old left-handed batter opened the innings for Women in Blue and, with the help of 13 fours and one sixes, hammered 77 runs from 47 balls. She added with Jemimah Rodrigues (39) 98 runs for the second wicket and shared 44 runs with Raghvi Bist (31*) for India to post a total of 217 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs.

The 218-run target proved too much for the West Indies team, leading them to the losing end of the match by 60 runs.

Mandhana broke former Indian captain and legendary batter Mithali Raj’s record of most runs scored in a bilateral T20I series for India with her 77 runs on Thursday. Smriti scored a half-century in all three for India in the T20I series, which also helped her break the record of the greatest New Zealand batter, Suzie Bates, for scoring the most 50+ scores in women’s T20Is.
