Some Shocking Facts About Tien’s Rise

Learner Tien is one of the hottest young stars on the ATP World Tour. The 20 year old may have lost the semis of Delray Beach Open last night to Tommy Paul in three sets but his ascension up the rankings into the top five is better than some legendary names.

This is just the start of Tien’s second year on the ATP World Tour and he is already ranked 23 in the world after going 36-24 last year. Did you know Roger Federer was ranked 29 at the end of his second full ATP season in 2000?

That’s right, Tien is outpacing Federer’s ATP career start.

Rafael Nadal was ranked 51 after his second full ATP season 2004 and 47 after the first.

Andy Murray was ranked 17 after his second year in 2006 and 65 after the first.

Alexander Zverev – 83 and 24.

Wawrinka? 55 and 30.

Going back in history, Andre Agassi was ranked 25 after his first full ATP season and then 3 after the second at age 18.

Lleyton Hewitt was 22 and then 7.

Novak Djokovic – 83 and then 16.

Juan Carlos Ferrero – 43 and 12.

Carlos Alcaraz – 32 and then 1 in 2022.

So Learner Tien is in position to achieve a legendary career, if he can sustain his phenomenal progression and keep improving and gaining valuable experience.
