“Sometimes it’s helpful…”Jasprit Bumrah gives a massive statement on team India playing the World Cup final in just 24 hours after Semis

India had just over a day to prepare for their big game against England in the 2024 T20 World Cup semi-finals. They had to travel from Guyana to Barbados, another island in the Caribbean, and then get ready to face South Africa in the final. After their match with England, which was cut short by rain, India went directly to Barbados and chose not to practice before the final. When asked about the tight schedule before the championship match, Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah shared his thoughts.

In an interview with the International Cricket Council before the championship game against South Africa, Bumrah mentioned that the brief preparation period could actually be beneficial for India in the tournament’s final. This will be Bumrah’s second major ICC final within a year. Before the big match, Bumrah noted that the short time between games might prevent India from overanalyzing things before the final showdown.

“Sometimes, it’s helpful not to have too much time to plan too much or get mixed up or make things complex. You just go straight into the game, rest, and recover without thinking too much or dealing with complications,” Bumrah said to Sanjana Ganesan before the final match.

When asked about how Rohit Sharma is leading the team in the competition, Bumrah said that the Indian captain is doing an outstanding job and praised him for allowing the players to be themselves.

“Rohit Sharma has been doing incredibly well. Even in the last World Cup, he was always taking action, giving his players a lot of freedom, and letting them show what they can do. When he thinks it’s the right moment, he shares his own experiences during the game. So yes, it feels really good and I feel very happy playing under him, and the team’s confidence is also very high,” Bumrah finished by saying.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced through a formal statement that India has decided not to practice.

The game could be affected by bad weather, as there are predictions of heavy rain on the day of the match. Weather.com reports a 70% chance of rain for the day, and at around 10:30 am local time (8:00 pm IST), which is when the game is set to start, there is a 66% chance of rain. Additionally, the weather forecast is not looking good later in the evening either, with a 50% chance of rain at 4:00 pm local time (1:30 am IST).
