Former Cabinet Minister and social commentator Hamilton Lashley says well-known cricket club Spartan can bounce back, but much strategic planning has to be done with great emphasis on a school and community programme.

Lashley told Weekend Sport that Spartan’s historic demotion from the Elite Division would be a huge test for the club that had been in existence since 1893.

“Spartan has been a very resilient organisation and that resilience is required now more than ever, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

“The club has some of the best brains in the country and every effort must be made to protect the legacy of the multitude of super players that have come through Spartan.
