The TV ratings and viewership data are in for the Dec. 26 episode of WWE SmackDown on the USA Network.
Per Wrestlenomics, SmackDown was watched by 1,138,000 total viewers and did a .27 rating in the 18-49 year old demographic. The pre-taped day-after-Christmas episode rebounded in a big way from the previous week’s show. That one was also pre-recorded, but it went head-to-head with a College Football Playoff game. There was college football on the 26th, but nothing with a national title up for grabs. That, and that age-old draw the spoiled title change, helped SmackDown improve 14% week-to-week in total viewers, and 29% in the demo.
SmackDown was #1 among all original programming on the night… a night Programming Insider called “lackluster”. Second place went to ABC’s Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, which did a .18 in the demo. It’s that time of year…
Last night’s show was live, and was packed — even at its once-again three-hour runtime. We’ll see how it does, then update our running tracker of SmackDown results from the past year with its numbers:
