SRH set to retain 5 players before the Mega auctions of IPL 2025

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will most likely retain their main players before the mega auctions which are set to be held later this year. BCCI has already given the deadline to submit their final list of retentions by October 31, 2024.

Star wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen, captain Pat Cummins, and opener Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma are the main players that will be retained by the franchise before the mega auction.

In a chance to establish a strong base for the upcoming seasons, SRH will most likely retain Nitish Kumar Reddy. Though he played just two seasons in the league, Nitish was taken by SRH in 2023 auctions for Rs. 20 lakh. Though the franchise wished to keep him as an uncapped player, they had to make some tweaks in their budget after he made his international debut in T20i against Bangladesh.

Along with that, Heinrich Klaasen is certain to be the first retention for the squad other than Pat Cummins. Klaasen has a high value in T20s for his exceptional batting against spin. He almost led South Africa to a victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 with an explosive innings.

The five players were important for the success of SRH in their previous seasons. Under the leadership of Pat Cummins, SRH managed to save themselves from a difficult situation back and reach the final for the first time since 2018. A lot of credit for this milestone can be given to Travis head and Abhishek Sharma as they made impressive partnerships at the top order.
