Sri Lanka Women’s T20 World Cup squad for 2024 has been announced, with significant changes. Veteran left-arm spinner Inoka Ranaweera’s recall to the Sri Lanka Women’s T20 World Cup squad comes as a major highlight. After being excluded from both the Asia Cup-winning team and the Ireland tour, her selection aligns with the UAE’s spin-friendly conditions. Despite not having a standout year in T20Is, Ranaweera brings an impressive record of 91 wickets in 82 matches to strengthen the squad.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s squad sees the exclusion of 21-year-old seamer Kawya Kavindi, leaving the team with just three primary seamers. Udeshika Prabodhani, Achini Kulasuriya, and Ama Kanchana are the fast-bowling options for Sri Lanka, adding a balanced pace attack. With the tournament starting on October 3, the squad will rely heavily on spin to navigate tough group-stage opponents.

Sri Lanka’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad also boasts a formidable spin contingent, including Inoshi Priyadharshani, Sugandika Kumari, and Kavisha Dilhari. Captain Chamari Athapaththu will provide occasional off-spin but remains the lynchpin of the batting lineup. Harshitha Samarawickrama and 18-year-old talent Vishmi Gunaratne will play crucial roles in ensuring strong starts with the bat.

Sri Lanka are placed in Group A, facing tough opposition from Australia, New Zealand, India, and Pakistan. Chamari Athapaththu leads a confident squad after their recent Asia Cup victory. With a balanced team featuring experienced players and young talent, Sri Lanka is poised to challenge for a semifinal spot and make a deep run in the tournament.
