Sydney Sixers defeated Melbourne Renegades by five wickets in the second match of Big Bash League 2024-25, giving them a positive start to their campaign. So Let’s take a look at SS vs MR 2nd Match Highlights.

The skipper of the Sydney Sixers team, Moises Henriques, displayed a brilliant batting performance during his 53–run knock to lead his side to victory at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Monday.

Invited to bat, the Melbourne Renegades got off to a good start despite losing their two wickets in powerplay, as they posted 60 in the first six overs.  

Wicketkeeper batter Tim Seifert, who entered the field at number 3, scored the most runs for the Renegades. His 42-ball 55 was crucial, especially after his side faced a middle-order collapse.  

From 82 for 2 to 91 for 5, Renegades were in trouble, however, Seifert and Will Sutherland rescued the side before Seifert got out.

Skipper Seifert remained unbeaten till the end of innings and played an effective 26-ball 38 to take his side to 169 in 20 overs.  

Sydney Sixers to chase 170 in 20 overs 

Sixers made a solid start to their run-chase as they reached 81 in just 9.4 overs, thanks to James Vince (40 off 19) and Jack Edwards (37 off 28).  

However, similar to Renegades, the Sixers also faced a little setback when they lost their three batters in the span of 23 runs. 

With 104 for 4 after 12.3, the Sixers required 66 more in the remaining 45 balls.

Their captain Moises Henriques took the whole responsibility of leading the team from front and played a knock of 53 not out in just 27, while Ben Dwarshuis 6-ball 14* cameo handed Sydney Sixers a five-wicket win with nine balls in hand.
