Steve Kouleas: “The Blues trade isn’t sexy today (Wednesday) with the Devils for Nick Bjugstad but what it is maybe the signaling of what we knew was coming, and you talked about bigger names gone, could we see a scenario where it is a fire sale, per se, as it relates to the changing of the GM guard in St Louis, and that the (Robert) Thomas, (Colton) Parayko and (Jordan) Binnington could all be gone as well, my friend, what do you Think?”

NHL Rumors: Chicago Blackhawks, and a Top NHL Trade Watch List

Dave Pagnotta: “I think this is the first bigger move. The Blues made a couple minor trades earlier on in the season, but this is the first one that really is going to hopefully put the first domino in place here that’s dropped so they moved him out. He’s got another year on his contract at $1.7 5 million.

It’s just this is an indicator that the Blues are willing to listen to a variety of their players, including guys with term, and we know that Justin Faulk and Brayden Schenn have another year left on their respective contracts. 15 team no-trade list on both, which they’ve been listening to for a while. They’re listing on others.

Pretty much everybody, 25 and under, is going to stick around, at least. That’s at least that’s the plan. Everybody else, they’re willing to listen on. Now that being said, Jordan Kyrou‘s price is significantly more than Schenn’s, for example, and Robert Thomas is amplified that much more.

They’re willing to listen on Robert Thomas, and they’ve made that known to a few teams but you’ve got to, if you just want to have a conversation about it, you’ve got to come to the table with a pretty significant return.

You’re talking about one that’s not going to be Doug Armstrong, either hang up or throw his phone across the room and waste his time. This is a scenario where, hey, we’ll listen, but you’ve got to make or  you’ve got to give us a reason to listen and to pay attention.

So available with an asterisk, because it would take a significant return in order for them to even consider that, but they are open to that possibility with the first move here Bjugstad going over to New Jersey certainly opens things up, and it’s just a reminder for some other teams that this club is significantly open for business.”

NHL Rumors: St. Louis Blues and Robert Thomas

NHLRumors.com Note: The St. Louis Blues and GM Doug Armstrong are holding firm on their prices for Robert Thomas, Jordan Kyrou, Brayden Schenn, Justin Faulk, Jordan Binnington, and others. Those prices haven’t changed since the trade deadline last season. However, the change of guard is underway in St. Louis, as Doug Armstrong is moving on and passing the torch to Alex Steen next season.
