Steve Kerr on Moses Moody’s injury: “It sure looked bad”

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr addressed the team’s emotions after Moses Moody suffered a serious left knee injury late in overtime Monday at American Airlines Center.

“Just saw his leg buckle and saw him go down in a heap in pain… we’re just hoping for the best,” Kerr said.

Moody had returned from a 10-game absence due to a right wrist sprain and scored 23 points before the injury occurred. “Mo is such a great human being, great teammate… and was brilliant, by the way. Played so well… defensively changed the game for us,” Kerr added.

The coach described the scene on the floor: “I saw the looks on the Mavericks’ faces, everybody on the floor was just horrified… players care about players. They know how fragile this business is and how short their careers are.”

Kerr emphasized the unpredictability of injuries, noting, “We don’t know what it is, but it sure looked bad… whatever the best case scenario is, that’s what we’re all hoping for.”

Golden State overcame a 15-point deficit in the first half to extend Dallas’ home losing streak to 12 games, their longest in 32 years. Kristaps Porzingis scored 23 points and Brandin Podziemski added 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Gary Payton II contributed 17 points on perfect shooting, while Gui Santos scored 11 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter and overtime. The Warriors ended a three-game losing streak, marking just their second win in the last 10 games.

Cooper Flagg led the Mavericks with 30 points and nine assists but committed seven turnovers, including three in an 11-0 Warriors run that broke a tie in the fourth quarter. Daniel Gafford added 20 points for the home team.

“Just praying that it’s not too serious, but it sure looked serious… Mo puts in the work every day, and was brilliant,” he said.

The Warriors, now 34-38, remain in the play-in tournament picture with 10 regular-season games left. Golden State hosts the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday, while Dallas travels to Denver.
