The Man They Call Sting has created a lasting legacy in pro wrestling that has spanned multiple generations. Now, the WWE Hall of Famer’s legacy will live on for yet another generation. While Sting will no longer don the face paint after 2025, his son just might. As we reported here, Steve Borden Jr., Sting’s son, recently made his pro wrestling debut by successfully teaming with Darby Allin for an indie show. Just a couple of months later, and now Sting’s son debuts in AEW!
Sting’s Son Debuts In Dark Match for AEW
It’s unmistakable that Tony Khan has love for the Borden family. Not only did Sting retire undefeated in AEW, but his sons were allowed to don the makeup and get physical during his final encounter. Since then, even Sting’s daughter-in-law has become an employee of AEW, much to the chagrin of Brodie Lee’s widow.
Nonetheless, the Borden family is furthering its ties with Tony Khan’s company. Sting’s son made his much-anticipated debut for AEW on December 10, 2025. The rookie sensation participated in a Dark Match prior to the Winter Is Coming broadcast.
Steve Borden Jr. Debuts On Same Show As Sting
It’s been six years since Sting made his fateful debut in AEW. Since then, The Icon has become synonymous with the brand. In fact, Sting is also synonymous with one of AEW’s premier events, Winter Is Coming.
Sting made his debut in AEW in a storm of snow for the inaugural Winter Is Coming. During the event, Sting would come to the rescue of Cody Rhodes and Darby Allin, who were outnumbered by Team Taz.
This monumental moment would forge the long-standing bond between Sting and Darby Allin. Darby and Sting’s relationship still goes strong today, as the former TNT Champion is playing a significant hand in training Steve Borden Jr.
Steve Borden Jr. Wins AEW Debut Match
The Man They Call Steve Borden Jr. has a bright future ahead of him, especially if his AEW debut was any indication. Steve Borden Jr. was successful in his first AEW match, as he got the victory over Kiran Gray. Kiran Gray is also a trainee of Darby Allin and has made a few dark show appearances for AEW and ROH tapings.
Steve Borden Jr. made his entrance to the Led Zeppelin classic, “Immigrant Song,” making many wonder if Khan will invest in music rights for Sting’s son’s main roster debut.
Steve Borden Jr. and Kiran Gray to Wrestle at DEFY ENDER
During the AEW tapings, Kiran Gray and Steve Borden Jr. had a back-and-forth clash, with the Atlanta crowd solidly behind the AEW legend’s son. While they’re both new to the sport, this is the second time the two have tangled.
Steve Borden Jr. defeated Kiran Gray during a recent DEFY show in a hard-hitting contest. With two wins under Borden’s belt, it doesn’t look like their rivalry will end any time soon.
Kiran Gray and Steve Borden Jr. are signed to wrestle one more time this year. They will go one-on-one at DEFY ENDER on December 28th in Los Angeles.
