‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin’s WWE WrestleMania 42 Return Discussed

The latest episode of the “Something To Wrestle” podcast featured WWE Hall of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield (JBL). During the chat, JBL discussed the possible return of ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin at the upcoming WrestleMania in Las Vegas. The Hall of Famer said,

“I would bet against a match, is my guess, but I would bet far as stunners that (are) coming. I don’t know when. Maybe WrestleMania, maybe tonight. I don’t know. Maybe that’s all things ruse. I would bet stunners, just getting out there and doing something.”

“The problem with Steve is that WrestleMania match with Kevin Owens, Vince wanted just basically a stunner. And Steve said no. I remember seeing Steve working on some stuff like the day before. I said, how long have you been working out? He said, about 20 minutes. He had not been wrestling. And he just took that match last minute and went out there and had, I thought, a hell of a match.”

“When he was on top, you couldn’t get him to go 20 minutes. He goes 30 minutes, 40 minutes, whatever it was out there, and drinks beers for another 20 minutes. He would be out there forever because he loved performing. So if Steve ever gets out there, it may be a lot more than stunners. I have been out there with him when Vince has told us nothing physical, and all of a sudden Steve ends up doing it. So I think if Steve ever gets out there, it may be more than stunners.”

Additionally, Layfield stated that he would like to see Stone Cold back on WWE programming. The former World Champion said,

“I wish he was. I’m disappointed but not surprised. I love Steve, and he’s so entertaining. [So] I’d love to see him interact with all these great stars they have today. I think it would be fantastic.”

Austin Provides An Update On His Status For WWE WrestleMania 42

The Texas Rattlesnake recently appeared on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast. During the conversation, Stone Cold claimed that he would like to be a part of WrestleMania 42, but not for a match. The WWE Hall of Famer said,

“It’s funny because you’ll sit there or they’ll put something on [Instagram] and people will say, ‘Oh, no, no. Man, he’s too old. Let the current talent have the spotlight.’ Let the current talent have the spotlight, of course. If I can go out there and do something, that’d be fine. But God damn, when I crashed that four-wheeler last year up there against that wall, man, you talk about sh****** the bed big time. I was so p***** off about that.”

“Because I was looking forward to going out there and announcing the attendance and then watching the show, seeing what kind of show the superstars were going to put on. And, man, I s*** the bed on the big stage.”

“We’ll see if they have me back. If they do, that’s cool. I always say — they got a pretty good roster, you know? So I think those guys and gals, they need all the time.”

“It’d be to go back for one of those moments. Not a match itch, right? I got a left knee replacement a little over a year ago. And God dang, my leg feels good, I’m glad I got it done. But, yeah, I get the itch for certain moments. But to try and do a match? No.”
