The summer just got a whole lot hotter! Cricket Australia has officially dropped the full fixture for BBL|15, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most thrilling Big Bash League seasons we’ve seen in years.
The action kicks off on Sunday, December 14, with a blockbuster opening clash between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers under lights at Optus Stadium.
From there, it’s a whirlwind of hard-hitting sixes, sizzling rivalries, and unmissable drama that will stretch all the way through to the BBL Final on January 25, the eve of Australia Day.
Bigger Stars, Bigger Matches
One of the biggest storylines heading into BBL|15? Australia’s Test players are back — and this time, they’re sticking around. With the Ashes wrapping up just before Christmas, there’ll be a two-week window where Test stars will be available to light up the BBL. That means fans could see the likes of Steve Smith, Pat Cummins, Marnus Labuschagne, and others donning their BBL colours during the business end of the season. That’s a massive win for the fans and franchises alike.
After years of limited availability due to international duties, this is the best access we’ve had to our national heroes in a long time — and the excitement is palpable.

The Format: Fast, Fierce & Festive
This season’s format remains a lean, fan-friendly 40-game regular season, running from December 14 to January 18. The finals series then takes over, with the familiar and much-loved four-team knockout format:
- Qualifier: 1st vs 2nd
- Knockout: 3rd vs 4th
- Challenger: Loser of Qualifier vs Winner of Knockout
- Final: January 25
That grand finale — falling just before Australia Day — is perfectly timed to wrap up a summer of cricket with a bang. Expect full houses, fireworks, and final-over thrillers.
Classic Clashes and Must-Watch Venues
All eight franchises are back: Adelaide Strikers, Brisbane Heat, Hobart Hurricanes, Melbourne Renegades, Melbourne Stars, Perth Scorchers, Sydney Sixers, and Sydney Thunder. And they’ll be criss-crossing the country to bring the BBL buzz to every corner.

The iconic rivalries return too:
- The Sydney Smash (Sixers vs Thunder) at the SCG and ENGIE Stadium
- The Melbourne Derby (Stars vs Renegades) at the MCG and Marvel Stadium
