Sunil Gavaskar issues strict warning for team India ahead of the Bangladesh tests

In the next two-match Test series, batting legend and former captain of India, Sunil Gavaskar, has cautioned Team India under Rohit Sharma that they should not take lightly Bangladesh. India is expected to play with Bangladesh in two red-ball matches in September 2024. The opener match of the series is organized at MA Chidambaram Stadium at Chennai starting from September 19, while the second Test will be hosted by Green Park Stadium from September 27.

As per Gavaskar, who has now donned the hat of an expert and commentator, Bangladesh team has got high spirits as they defeated Pakistan in a two-match Test series and they have certain remarkable players who can trouble Indias too.

“Bangladesh cricket team have proved that they are not to be taken lightly by beating both Tests against Pakistan. A few years back when India visited Bangladesh for a tour; Bangladesh gave them run for their money. Right now having just won a series against Pakistan; they are also ready for India,” noted Gavaskar in his column for Mid-Day.”

“Some of them are very good players while others are promising newcomers who no longer have the same fear factor that defined their early days on the international stage against other teams. Presently, every team that plays them is aware that if they slacken then they would be like Pakistan during the last series of matches they played with them. It’s going to be an exciting series,” he said

Till now, India and Bangladesh have played each other in Test matches 13 times with India winning 11 times. Bangladesh would be eager to break this 24 years long wait for their first ever test victory against India after suffering a 0-2 defeat in their last test series which took place between the two sides in December 2022.

On Sunday (September 15), Najmul Hossain Shanto who is leading India arrived in India and attended its first training session at Chepauk Stadium .
