“Take the f****ing belt” – Terence Crawford SLAMS WBC for stripping him

Terence Crawford launched a scathing attack on the WBC for stripping him of his super middleweight title.

Crawford won the WBC, WBO, IBF and WBA titles with a stunning victory over Canelo Alvarez in September, to become a three-weight undisputed champion.

At their convention in Bangkok this week, the WBC announced that Crawford is no longer their champion, with President Mauricio Sulaiman claiming that the Omaha man failed to pay his sanctioning fees.

Sulaiman argued that the 38-year-old owed them 0.6% of his purse, lower than the usual 3% governing bodies charge in sanctioning fees.

However, in a furious response on Wednesday, Crawford slammed the WBC and claimed that they asked him to pay more than the other governing bodies.

“I seen Mauricio got a lot to say about me not paying him $300,000 plus another $100k something for sanctioning fees,” Crawford said in a social media video.

“They ain’t gonna tell me to apologise.

“Who the f*** do you think I am?

“You better slap your f***ing self.

“I ain’t paying your a** s***.

“What the f*** are you talking about pay you $300,000?

“What makes you better than the WBO, the IBF or the WBA?

“Everybody accepted what I was giving them, but you, the WBC think you better than everybody, don’t you?

“The real belt is the ring belt which is free.

“You want me to pay you more than the other sanctioning bodies because you feel like you’re better than them.

“All the sanctioning bodies agreed to the same amount.

“You can take the f***ing belt.”

Sulaiman announced that Hamzah Sheeraz and Christian Mbilli will now fight for the vacant WBC super middleweight crown.

Crawford took a further swipe at the WBC, citing the organisation’s failure to grant David Benavidez a shot at Canelo when ‘The Mexican Monster’ was the number one contender.

After a bout with Alvarez eluded him, Benavidez moved up in weight and captured the WBC light heavyweight world title.

“The WBC you ain’t never seen them strip Canelo for [not fighting] Benavidez,” he added.

“He was mandatory for what like two years?

“It’s crazy.

“But that’s that favouritism s***.”
