Takomo 101 MKII Irons Specs & Design

Designed for beginners and high-handicappers, the game-improvement 101 MKII features a deep cavity-back structure with perimeter weighting to maximize forgiveness on mishits.

It is the replacement for the first generation of the 101 irons and Takomo have made changes to the blade length and face design as well as fine-tuned the weighting system for improved all-round performance gains.

The 101 MKII features an improved Variable Face Technology 7-4 steel face that provides consistent distance even on toe or heel strikes as well as even better feel than before.

The clubhead itself, meanwhile, is made of a flexible yet durable 431 stainless steel that delivers impressive ball speeds and distance.

Progressive weighting has been refined in the second edition to optimized the center of gravity through the set for optimal launch and control and to enhance forgiveness.

The 101 also has a thicker topline and more offset than in the previous version for easy launch and a high trajectory and towering ball flight, as well as a tweaked sole design.

The design changes with progressive weighting, hollow‑body chassis and VFT face construction combine to deliver impressive ball speeds and very consistent carry distances that build on the original version.

Mid to high‑handicappers will notice a tighter dispersion, improved accuracy and can expect to add or retain distance. The trade‑off is that spin stability is not absolutely class‑leading, but more than adequate for the price.
