Talented India Youngster on the Brink of Breaking Massive Sachin Tendulkar Record in Border Gavaskar Trophy

India will next face the Aussies in a Day/Night Test to be played in Adelaide from Dec 6.

The Indian team will be eyeing to secure another win, when they lock horns with the Aussies in the second Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test in Adelaide after taking a 1-0 lead in the five-match contest. The Men in Blue secured a thumping win by 295 runs in Perth and will now hope to extend their lead in the upcoming day/night Test.

However, ahead of the contest, a talented Indian batting star will also be aiming to eclipse a big record held by Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar.

Sensational India opener Yashasvi Jaiwasal might just be 22-years-old but has been smashing records ever since his foray. After dominating the home conditions for the majority of the year in the longest format, he slew the Aussies in the first Test match in Perth with a brilliant 161.

Following the stellar knock, Jaiswal has now accumulated 1,280 runs this year, including three centuries and seven half-centuries, maintaining an impressive average of 58.18 and a strike rate of 72.52, with an unbeaten 214 as his highest score.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is now only 282 runs short of surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the highest number of Test runs by an Indian in a single calendar year. In 2010, Sachin scored 1,562 runs with seven centuries and five fifties, averaging 78.10 across 14 matches and 23 innings. His highest score was also 214.

For the unversed, with 1,788 runs in 11 games and 19 innings at an average of 99.33 in 2006, Pakistani batting great Mohammed Yousuf holds the record for most Test runs in a calendar year.

The second AUS vs IND Test is slated to start on December 6.
