Mohammed Shami, a fast bowler, got his nickname from batting legend Virat Kohli, who is renowned for lighthearted banter and fun within the team.
Shami, who turned 34 on Tuesday, is getting closer to returning to international cricket by recovering from surgery to repair an ankle ailment.
The Uttar Pradesh-born pacer is seen in a video clip that Star Sports posted on social media on his birthday. In it, he responds to questions in a rapid-fire format while facing the camera.
Your nickname was given to you by?
As you are aware, I go by “lala” within the squad. I was the only member of the squad without a nickname when Virat started it.
On his number in a jersey…
11 is my jersey number. You could say I approve of it. Numerous things in my life add up to eleven when you calculate them.
Who are the fast bowlers you like the best?
They’re plentiful in number. However, if you’re looking for names, I like Dale Steyn and Waqar Younis.
Batsmen, you seem to like bowling.
In my opinion, Joe Root is the best player right now because he can play all over the wicket.
What stands out in his memory the most?
My time on the ODI team is the portion of my career that I remember the most. Giving a speech while perched on a chair or stool was customary back then. I could not have said anything more when I got up and saw the faces. I just couldn’t understand (what to say) when I walked into a meeting with the best bowlers and hitters. However, I still remember that meeting to this day.
