Tamim Iqbal draws a massive comparison between R Ashwin, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma

Ravichandran Ashwin is making his own way of creating legacy in the world of Indian cricket. He is the second highest wicket taker for the country in Test cricket and has captured more than 500 wickets. Further, Ashwin has scored six Test centuries and established himself as an all rounder who can be relied upon by the team during trying times. However, it has been tough for Ashwin to gain recognition in a country that is madly obsessed with batters. But veteran Bangladeshi cricketer Tamim Iqbal thinks R Ashwin’s importance is comparable to batting greats like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in India.

Tamim, one of the commentators for Bangladesh’s tour of India, boldly placed Ashwin in the same class as Virat and Rohit without any hesitation.

“He did really well when he batted like a proper batsman. I’m from another country. But what I hear all the time is that of the Virat Kohli s and Rohit Sharma’s. But for me Ravichandran Ashwin stands tall among these eminent players ‘coz it’s not just about scoring runs or taking wickets but also contributing to this Indian side immensely. In my opinion this contribution could be as huge as Rohit or even Virat Kohli,” commented Tamim Iqbal during an interview with Jio Cinema.

In the post-match ceremony, India captain Rohit praised Ashwin for his all-around performance in both batting and bowling.

“He is next in line to come speak to you. You can find your answers from him because he’s the only one. He always comes through for us whether it’s with ball or bat. I am not sure if I say all these words it will be sufficient for what he does for this team. It just happens every time he goes out there and does that job; it’s so fantastic! There’s no way he can ever go out of the game. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen him play competitive cricket but the last time he did that was during IPL then he had some fun playing TNPL. This helped him in becoming a bit more comfortable at such a high position when we saw his batting during earlier matches,” said Rohit in a post match presentation.
