The Indian women’s cricket team will play against England in the first-ever women’s Test match at Lord’s in 2026. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced on Thursday (August 22) that the Indian women’s team, known as the Women in Blue, will compete against the English women’s team in five T20 matches and three one-day matches next year. After that, they will go to England again in 2026 for a special Test match at Lord’s, which is known as the Home of Cricket.
“The Indian women’s team will come back in 2026 for a special Test match at Lord’s—the first-ever women’s Test match to be held at the Home of Cricket. The English women’s team has played shorter matches at Lord’s for the past three years, with another one planned for next year, but this will be the first time Lord’s hosts a women’s Test match,” the ECB announcement said.
The official schedule for next year’s limited-overs tour of England was announced on Thursday. The tour includes a five-match T20 series starting on June 28, 2025, in Nottingham. The remaining four T20 matches are planned for July 1, 4, 9, and 12 in Bristol, London (Oval), Manchester, and Birmingham, respectively.
After the T20 series, there will be three One Day Internationals (ODIs) scheduled for July 16, 19, and 22 in Southampton, Lord’s, and Chester-le-Street, respectively.
The Indian women’s team previously visited England for a limited-overs series in 2022. They lost the three-match T20 series 1-2 but managed to win all matches in the ODI series, achieving a clean sweep against the English team.
India has played against England in 15 women’s Test matches and has won three of those games. In the most recent Test match between India and England, held at the Dr. DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai from December 14-16, 2023, the team led by Harmanpreet Kaur beat Heather Knight’s team by 347 runs.
