Team India crumbles after Pant and Gill’s fifties

The Indian team made a lead of 28 runs from New Zealand on the 2nd Day of the 3rd Test in Mumbai. This lead could have, however, gone over 70-80 runs if the team had not faced another collapse in their batting lineup. Half centuries by Shubman Gill and Rishabh pant were the main turning point of innings for India.

Shubman Gill reached his milestone for India in 66 balls, which came out as his first half-century in three Test matches. With this fifty, he finally completed his aim for a half-century in Tests.

The dominating performance by Rishabh Pant was the anchor for India to come out from a difficult situation. Throughout the first hour of the day, Pant remained aggressive and prevented the visitors from getting any breakthrough.

By the evening of Day 1, the team went from 78/1 to 84/4 in no time, but it was because of the 96-run partnership by Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant for the fifth wicket, that India managed to get out of trouble.

Indian team then saw another breakdown, as the team lost final 6 wickets for 83 runs. The team was 180/4, but got all out for just 263. The team could only manage to get a lead of 23 runs.
