After their excellent T20 World Cup triumph, the Indian cricket team is already setting its sights on the next challenge. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah revealed the team’s burning desire to conquer two more major ICC trophies- World Test Championship and Champions Trophy.
India, a team that has been known for its reputation for losing in the finals in the past decade, finally ended its lack of a title after two heartbreaking losses in the ICC finals over the last 12 month. BCCI secretary Jay Shah expressed his hope for the team’s winning streak.
Shah’s comments also gave a hint about the continued involvement of senior players in the upcoming matches.
“I would want India to win all the titles. We have the biggest bench strength; only three players from this team are going to Zimbabwe. We can field three teams if the need arises.” said Shah.
“The way this team is progressing, our target is to win the World Test Championship final and Champions Trophy. There will b a similar squad playing there. The seniors will be there,” he added.
This statement suggests that seasoned players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah will likely remain at the front in India’s upcoming tournaments. Their experience and their leadership qualities will be crucial in guiding the younger players and navigating the pressure building in the higher-up matches.
