Freshman Teraya Sigler’s debut collegiate season with Nebraska Volleyball concluded on Sunday after the team faced a defeat against Texas A&M in the NCAA Regional Finals. Sigler and her teammates lost the match 2-3 in a hard-fought fifth set, ending their impressive 33-match winning streak this season. With this victory, the Aggies advanced to their program’s first-ever Final Four, where they will compete against Pittsburgh.
Moments after the loss, Sigler shared a faith-driven message as she reflected on her journey and her team’s accomplishments across the 2025 collegiate season.
Freshman Teraya Sigler Addresses the Emotions of Playing for Nebraska Volleyball
In the NCAA Regional Final, Sigler was one of the freshmen, alongside Virginia Adriano and Manaia Ogbechie, who got the opportunity to compete in this significant match. The Scottsdale native made her mark with two kills and nine digs in the game, complementing the likes of Harper Murray and Rebekah Allick’s 25 and 15 kills, respectively.
However, the Aggies, with impressive performances from players, including Logan Lednicky (24 kills), Kyndal Stowers (25 kills), and Emily Hellmuth (13 kills), were too strong to be overpowered by Sigler and her teammates at the end. Following the defeat, Sigler took to her Instagram to express her gratitude to the Almighty for allowing her to play for a team like the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
She wrote on her Instagram post, “All glory to God for the opportunity to play for something greater than myself. God just said it wasn’t our time and I’m learning to be okay with that. I thought that maybe if we went all the way that all of the hard work and dedication would mean something but come to find out there is so much more than just a trophy.”
Teraya’s enthusiasm for the future shines bright! She expressed her excitement for the upcoming collegiate season, saying, “The lord has truly blessed me with being a part of such a historic team and coaching staff. Praise Jesus for he is good ALL THE TIME. See y’all next year!!! ❤️❤️
It is worth noting that the Nebraska Huskers’ quest for their first national title since 2017 will have to wait for another year. The team has now faced three consecutive near misses, losing in the final stages of the tournament: first in 2023, when they lost the Championship finals 3-0, then in 2024 to Penn State in the Final Four, and now in 2025 to Texas A&M.
